The Provincial Grand Master, R.W.Bro Robert Stokes accompanied by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro. Brian Elliott, and the Provincial Grand Secretary, W.Bro. David Sowerby attended at Ellindon Masonic Centre in Peterborough on the 26thApril to jointly present an awareness evening to Master Masons for the Mark Degree.
A total of 57 brethren including 23 non Mark Masons interested to learn more about our wonderful degree attended. The brethren were drawn from the masonic centres at Peterborough, Huntingdon, Eaton Socon, St. Ives and Stamford.
Using a PowerPoint presentation to enhance the talk, the Provincial Grand Master welcomed everyone and said that the idea was to provide brethren with an appreciation of the order and not particularly to recruit. Stressing the friendliness of the order he then proceeded to speak about the origins of the degree and it’s relationships with other orders, Craft, Holy Royal Arch and Royal and Select Masters. The Provincial Grand Secretary then went on to explain the national and local structure of the order, its administration and most importantly the charities we support through the Mark Benevolent Fund administered at Mark Mason’s Hall in London.
Finally, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master spoke about the ceremonies of the degree, qualifications for joining and the regalia used.
The ProvGM then summed up the evening before all adjourned to the dining area for a buffet, refreshment and fellowship.
From the feedback received afterwards it would seem that the presentation was well received.
